2 new girlfriends in the house…

I took delivery of 2 fine new (old!) pieces of machinery this week, both from the awesome historical house of Commodore.

1st and foremost, a Commodore Amiga A1500! A dual drive version of the A2000 and a mighty hefty, sexy looking, beast. She also came with an official Commodore 1084S monitor. Yes, I refer to her as ‘She’ – get over it 🙂

I haven’t fired her up yet. She has been resting in a cold room for a day or so before I bought her in to my nice warm house. Worried that some condensation might form on the circuit board I’m leaving her for a day or so to acclimatise. Then… she shall rise!

Her she is 🙂

The 2nd Amiga to grace my presence this week is the gaming revolution, or sadly not as it turned out, that was the Commodore Amiga CD32 console. To be totally honest, I didn’t have one and it’s the only machine capable of playing The Chaos Engine that I didn’t have, so ~I had to have it. The game is also on it’s way 🙂

Thankfully the majority of the UK has been covered in a blanket of snow this weekend, a damn fine reason to stay warm in doors and cuddle up to my new girls 🙂

P.S. If my real girlfriend happens to be reading this then firstly I am in trouble because she doesn’t know I have bought these machines. Secondly… damn!   🙂

Well helloooooooo ladies! Looking mighty fine there mate 🙂

Should you have any problems with the A1500, we have quite a few knowledgable chaps at the Retro Computer museum who have resurrected many a dead Amiga base so just give us a shout and I’ll hook you up.

Have fun and happy gaming…..or sledging if you happen to venture outside 🙂

Thanks mate! I’m just about to go and power her up right now, so you might be hearing from me for some help 🙂

Even after all these years I am still shocked at quite how ugly the CD32 was – looks like it was designed in an Eastern Bloc country.

      Hi Brian,
Yeah design wasn’t exactly a big thing back in the early 90’s – After a decade of mullet haircuts and tie-dye T-shirts it didn’t stand much chance.

I recall seeing one in a Tandy/Radio Shack shop in Leeds and thinking “was this made by the staff?” – shame really, as under the bonnet, it was the shit (but due to people like me buying games from car-boot sales, the Amiga was already on it’s way out – I _still_ feel guilty 20+ years later).
